Professional Development Session:

Prompt Writing to Optimize for WISE

Learn how to create impactful writing prompts that inspire students and optimize WisdomK12’s AI feedback.

Session Overview

This professional development (PD) session is designed to guide teachers in crafting effective prompts that maximize the "WISE" (Writing Insight & Support Ecosystem) factor when using WisdomK12. Teachers will learn strategies to create prompts that not only engage students but also enable WisdomK12’s AI to deliver the most precise and actionable feedback. This session is the second in a three-part PD series, following the foundational tutorial on using WisdomK12.

Session Objectives

By the end of this session, teachers will:

  1. Understand the key elements of a well-constructed prompt that supports WisdomK12’s AI scoring.

  2. Learn strategies to focus prompts on specific skills or literary elements (e.g., theme, tone) while maintaining alignment with holistic writing goals.

  3. Collaboratively deconstruct and rebuild prompts to improve clarity, focus, and alignment with the Wisdom rubric.

  4. Apply their learning by creating prompts tailored to their curriculum and classroom needs.
